Meaning of Promoter
In corporate law, the term has a definite established meaning as denoting a person who sets in motion the machinery by which a company is created and brings together investors to contribute capital of the corporation . To be a promoter within the means of securities and exchange commission Rules, one must either be active in the business of the corporation or actively engaged in the formation of the corporation. See Ingenito v Bermac Corp., (D.C.N. Y.) 441 F.Supp. 525.
