Meaning of Patrimony
A hereditary estate that has descended in a direct line from the father . Also applied to that which has descended from the mother or other ancestor . In relation to a debtor , the term denotes the totality of assets and liabilities susceptible of pecuniary evaluation and consists of assets which are subject to execution for benefit of creditors. See Hastings v Dinning, (La.App.) 314 So.2d 744.
Patrimony Alternative Definition
Any kind of property; such estate as has descended in the same family; estates which have descended or been devised in a direct line from the father, and, by extension, from the mother or other ancestor. The father’s duty to take care of his children. Swinb. Wills, pt. 3, § 18, note 31, p. 235.

Definition of Patrimony
The Canada social science dictionary [1] provides the following meaning of Patrimony: A right, a status or tangible asset inherited from a father or other ancestor. In principle, a patrimony may be inherited by either sex although the term is generally associated with patrilineal transmission of status, property and wealth.
