One who has the care, custody, or superintendence of anything; as the keeper of a park, a pound, a gate, and (in the English law) keeper of a forest, great seal, and privy seal. One in charge of a jail. A person in charge of animals. One in possession of a thing, place, or business, whether or not the owner or proprietor.
Meaning of Keeper
A custodian, manager; one who has the care, custody or management of anything or place , as an innkeeper . See Heyen v Willis, 236 N.E.2d580, 94 Ill.App.2d290. In relation to animals, one who, with or without owner ‘s permission , undertakes to manage , control or care for animal as owners in general are accustomed to do. Heyen v Willis ( supra ); also Swain v Tillert, 152 S. E.2d 297, 269 N.C. 46.
