A house or part of a house or a room used for purposes of fornication by men and women resorting thereto in exchange for money . Synonymous with common bawdy-house and house of ill fame. The keeper of the brothel receives a share of the money.

English Legal System: Brothel
In the context of the English law, A Dictionary of Law provides the following legal concept of Brothel :
A place used for the purpose of female or male *prostitutio A contract for the hiring or letting of a brothel is void (as being contrary to public policy) and under the Sexual Offences Act 1956 it is an offence for a landlord to let premises knowing that they are to be used as a brothel. It is also an offence for someone to help or manage a brothel or for a tenant or occupier of any premises to permit the premises to be used as a brothel.
