Meaning of Bearer
person in possession of a bill of exchange or note which is payable to the bearer. In law of negotiable instruments, anyone in actual possession of a note payable to bearer is entitled to payment and is not affected by any disability of the nominal payee . Town of Thompson v Penine, 106 U. S. 589,1 S. Ct. 564.
Bearer Alternative Definition
One who bears or carries a thing. If a bill or note be made payable to bearer, it will pass by delivery only, without indorsement, and whoever fairly acquires a right to it may maintain an action against the drawer or acceptor.
