Meaning of Bank Note, Bank Bill

A promissory note issued by a bank authorized to do so, payable to bearer on demand , and intended to circulate as money . People v Burke, 113 Cai. Rptr. 553, 38 C.A.3d 708. Bank bills and notes differ from a check . A check is not currency , although it may pass readily from hand to hand, whereas a bank note is issued as currency under legal restrictions and authority . People v Burke, supra .
