Meaning of Bank Check

A check drawn by one bank on its account in another bank. The drawer bank on such a check has the right to issue a stop payment to the drawee bank. See Bruno v Collective federal Savings and Loan Assn. 370 A.2d874, 147 N.J. Super. 115.

The term may refer to either (a) an ordinary check drawn by a depositor on a bank; (b) a bank draft; or (c) a cashier”s check. For this reason, the term should be avoided whenever precision is important.
