Meaning of Joinder Of Causes Of Actions

The term signifies the uniting of two or more demands or rights or causes of action in the same complaint , declaration or petition . The right of a plaintiff to join several causes of action is determined by statutes relating to civil procedure . By and large, however, a plaintiff may unite any number of causes of action that he may have against the defendant so long as they may be all conveniently tried together. where there is more than one defendant, however, it is necessary that each of the defendants must be somehow affected by each of the causes of action so joined. Also necessary that the causes of action alleged in the same suit should not be inconsistent with each other . See federal Rule of civil procedure 18(a), Appendix 2.
