Meaning of Detriment
In the law of contracts, the term denotes an element of consideration meaning that promisee has, in return for promise , foreborne some legal right which he would otherwise have been entitled to exercise. Woolum v Sizemore, 102 S. W.2d323, 267 Ky. 384: In general , the term means an injury , damage , loss or harm suffered in person or property . See Unruh v Murray, (N.D.) 84 N. W.2d 730.
