Meaning of Common Authority

For purpose of rule that person possessing common authority over premises may consent to a warrantless search thereof, the common authority justifying the consent need only rest on mutual use of the property by persons having joint access or control for most purposes. See U.S. v Gulma, (C.A.9)563 F.2d 386.
