An agreement to do any act forbidden by law; an agreement that has an unlawful purpose, e.g., a contract to commit a crime or tort, an agreement that amounts to an unlawful restraint of trade ; an agreement to distribute pornographic material . An illegal contract confers no rights on the parties and no action can be founded on same. See Johnson v Van Wyck, 4 App. D.C. 4.
