Meaning of Pornographic

A certain matter is pornographic if the average person , applying contemporary community standards, would find that the work taken as a whole appeals to the prurient interest and if it depicts in a patently offensive way sexual conduct and if the work taken as a whole lacks serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value . Miller v California, 413 U.S. 15, 93 S.Ct. 2607,37 L.Ed. 419. The word pornography is said to be derived from the Greek word for harlot. See Spokane Arcades, Inc. v Ray, (D.C.
