Definition of Economic Roles of Government

In relation to social issues, a meaning of economic roles of government is provided here: in the mixed economy of the United States government has six broad goals: economic growth, more and better goods and services produced; full employment, everyone who wants to work should have a job; price stability, stable prices that do not rise dramatically, economic freedom, individuals should be free to make their own economic decisions; fair distribution of wealth, an agreement in principle that it is undesirable for any group to suffer extreme poverty while others enjoy extreme wealth; and economic security, government aid for those who are sick, disabled, or aged.
