Meaning of Presumption Of Advancement

A rebuttable presumption , except in jurisdictions where statutes exclude such presumption, that a parent who during his lifetime makes a substantial gift to a child intends that such gift shall be an advancement , i.e., that such a gift shall represent the whole or the portion of the estate of the parent which the child will be entitled to inherit upon the parent’s death intestate .
