International Tea Agreement in Global Commerce Policy

In this regard, international tea agreement is: first entered into force in 1933 as a producer-only arrangement and expired long ago. The entries on trade policy are here. It is credited with having been successful in arresting long-term downward prices, largely accounted for by the fact that India, Ceylon and Java all were members. These three accounted at that time for 96% of world tea production. Tea is one of the commodities included in the Integrated Programme for Commodities, but efforts to negotiate a new tea agreement have not been successful.[1]
