International Dairy Agreement

International Dairy Agreement in Global Commerce Policy

In this regard, international dairy agreement is: one of the WTO plurilateral agreements, originally negotiated during the Tokyo Round as the International Dairy Arrangement. Its objectives were (a) to achieve the expansion and ever greater liberalization of world trade in dairy products under market conditions as stable as possible on the basis of mutual benefit to exporting and importing countries, and (b) to further the economic and social development of developing countries. The Agreement covered trade in fresh and preserved milk and cream, butter, cheese and curd, and casein. The entries on trade policy in the Encyclopedia are here. Until it was terminated at the end of 1997, it was administered by the International Dairy Council.[1]
