Independence of protection in Global Commerce Policy

In this regard, independence of protection is: an intellectual property concept enshrined in the Paris Convention. The entries on trade policy are here. It means, for example, that any Australian patent granted under the Paris Convention enjoys protection in Australia quite independently of any protection it may enjoy in respect of the same invention under patents granted in other countries, whether or not these are signatories of the Paris Convention.[1]
