Meaning of European Council
In the context of Europe, and according to A Dictionary of Law, the following is a definition of European Council : A body consisting of the heads of government of the member states of the European Union. It is not a formal organ of the EU (Compare Council of the European Union), but meets three times a year to consider major developments of policy. It inspired, for example, the *European Monetary System.
