Dependence Theory
Dependence theory in Global Commerce Policy
In this regard, dependence theory is: a theory much in vogue in the 1960s and 1970s holding that developing countries are economically, socially and politically dependent on power groups in developed countries, especially transnational corporations. The theory is now not considered to give a satisfactory account of the causes of development and underdevelopment and hence the policy choices available to developing countries. See also core-periphery thesis.[1]
