Meaning of Boarding House
A house where the business of keeping boarders is carried on. whereas a hotel or an inn is bound to receive any guest who presents himself and is able and willing to pay for his meals or lodging, a boarding house is not obligated to do so.
Boarding House Alternative Definition
A quasi public house where boarders are habitually kept, and which is held out and known as a place of entertainment of that kind. 1 Lans. (N. Y.) 484, 486; 3 Abb. Pr. (N. S.; N. Y.) 26.
