What does Affinitas mean in American Law?
The definition of Affinitas in the law of the United States, as defined by the lexicographer Arthur Leff in his legal dictionary is:
“Related by marriage.” See affines; affinity. “Affinatis affinatis” refers to the very distant relationship between persons linked only by the marriage of blood relations, e.g., between the husband’s brother and the wife’s sister.
