The following is a definition of Tovalop, produced by Tetley, in the context of admiralty law: Tanker Owners’ Voluntary Agreement concerning Liability for Oil Pollution. An agreement subscribed by most of the world’s tanker operators whereby the Owners agree to reimburse Governments for oil pollution clean-up costs. Each member insures his potential liability under the agreement. This agreement was in effect until February 20. 1997 but was not renewed after that date.(see also reference to CRISTAL, (see this legal term in this law dictionary)).
