Special-structure countries in Global Commerce Policy

In this regard, special-structure countries is: a name for Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa in the Kennedy Round of multilateral trade negotiations. The four claimed, and were accorded, a different status in the linear tariff cut negotiations on the basis that their industries had not developed to the point where they would be able to compete with low-tariff imports of manufactures, and that the linear approach would not reduce protection for agriculture in their main export markets.
