Special and differential treatment in Global Commerce Policy

In this regard, special and differential treatment is: often referred to as S&D or S+D. The entries on trade policy are here. It is the concept that exports of developing countries should be given preferential access to markets of developed countries, and that developing countries participating in trade negotiations need not reciprocate fully the concessions they receive. Under S+D developing countries also enjoy longer timeframes for phasing in new rules and lower levels of obligations for adherence to the rules.
