Concept of “Seriaunt,serjeant”

Traditional meaning of seriaunt,serjeant in the French law history (with some legal use in England and the United States in the XIX Century) [1]: (in French) The highest degree in the profession of common law. Serjeants wore the coif, and had formerly the exclusive right to practise in the Common Pleas.
