Meaning of Pollicitation
In civil law. A promise not yet accepted by the person to whom it is made. It differs from a contract, inasmuch as the latter includes a concurrence of intention in two parties, one of whom promises something to the other, who accepts, on his part, of such promise. Grotius de Jure Belli, lib. 2, c. 2; Poth. Obi. pt. 1, c. 1, sec. 1, art. 1, i 2.
