Paperless trading in Global Commerce Policy
In this regard, paperless trading is: eliminating the requirement for paper documents, such as customs declarations and freight manifestos, to be used in the conduct of international trade and using electronic documents instead. The successful introduction of paperless trading requires overcoming legal and authentication barriers (ensuring that the document transmitted electronically is genuine and has not been tampered with), harmonization of documentation requirements between participants and agreement on the technical standards to be used.
