Definition of Open Voting in the context of the United States election law: Situation whereby a voter casts his or her vote in front of everybody in the polling station, meaning the vote is no longer secret. This may happen due to a voter’s own carelessness (does not fold his or her ballot paper when leaving the polling booth or simply does not go behind the polling booth), or as a result of undue influence, incorrect instructions, intimidation, etc.
