In this regard, a definition of this issue is as follows: this refers to the formulation of trade rules to achieve aims other than the traditional goals of freer, predictable and non-discriminatory trade. Such aims can include the protection of the environment, the promotion of core labour standards or human rights, support for democratic values and social and political ideas more generally. Some also include rules concerning competition and investment in this category, but others dispute this because of the frequently complementary relationship between trade policy and investment or competition. The basic principle seems to be that my concerns are legitimate, but yours are suspect and probably protectionist.
