Meaning of Law day

The day fixed in a mortgage or defeasible deed for the payment of the debt secured. 24 Ala. (N. S.) 149; 10 Conn. 280. The phrase formerly marked the time when all legal rights were lost by the mortgagor’s default. There is now no such time, until foreclosure; and the term serves only to engender confusion. 21 N. Y. 343, 345, 365, 367. In Old English Law. Law day or lage day denoted a day of open court; especially the more solemn courts of a county or hundred. The court leet, or view of frankpledge.
