Meaning of Grain

The twenty-fourth part of a pennjrweight. For scientific purposes the grain only is used, and sets of weights are constructed in decimal progression, from ten thousand grains to one hundredth of a grain. Wheat, rye, barley, or other corn sown in the ground. In Pennsylvania, a tenant for a certain term is entitled to the away-going crop. 2 Bin. (Pa.) 487; 5 Bin. (Pa.) 258, 289; 2 Serg. & R. (Pa.) 14.
