East African Cooperation in Global Commerce Policy

Its longer-term objectives are the establishment of a customs union and an East African Federation. Main areas for economic cooperation are harmonization of fiscal and monetary policies, trade and industry, transport and communications, energy, agriculture and animal husbandry, environment and natural resources, and tourism and wildlife conservation. Cooperation is also proceeding in political matters, immigration, law and justice, and security. The entries on trade policy are here. EAC also seeks to encourage interest from the private sector. The three partners making up the EAC are Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.[1]
