In the context of the English law, A Dictionary of Law provides the following legal concept of Contingency Fee : Payment to a lawyer only if the case is won. Contingency fees are illegal in the UK but common in other countries, such as the United States. However, *conditional fee agreements are permitted for certain limited categories of cases.
