Container Security Initiative in Global Commerce Policy

In this regard, container security initiative is: CSI. Launched by the United States Customs Service on 17 January 2002. CSI consists of four core elements: (a) establishing security criteria to identify high-risk containers, (b) screening containers deemed to have a high security risk before they arrive at United States ports, (c) using technology to do this quickly, and (d) developing and using smart and secure containers. CSI is aimed at seeking the cooperation in the first instance of the ports accounting for large shipments to the United States. Several of the world ™s largest ports now participate in this scheme.[1]
