Definition of Code of Conduct in the context of the United States election law: Set of rules aside from the body of legal texts that govern the election process (constitution, laws, etc.). These are primarily ethical in nature and are intended to regulate the conduct of election participants and their dealings with one another. The code of conduct applies to political parties, observers, media or election authority officials. Codes of conduct may be compulsary and enforced by the Election Management Body (EMB). Other stakeholders such as political parties, candidates or media may also voluntarily agree on a code of conduct that governs their involvement in the electoral process.
