In the context of the English law, A Dictionary of Law provides the following legal concept of Board of Inquiry : A body convened by naval, army, or air force authorities to investigate and report upon the facts of any happening (e.g. the loss or destruction of service property), particularly for the purpose of determining whether or not disciplinary proceedings should be instituted.
