Definition of Berne Convention
In the context of international law, the legal resource A Dictionary of Law, provides a definition of Berne Convention : The Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works: an international convention of September 1886 that sets out ground rules for protection of *copyright at national level; it has since been amended several times. Many nations are signatories to the Convention, including the UK and, more recently, the United States.

In this regard, a definition of this issue is as follows: the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works protects the rights of authors of literary and artistic works. The entries on trade policy are here. It was concluded in 1886 and revised several times since, the last time in 1971. The primary aim of the latest revisions was to move the convention towards according substantially uniform protection in all member countries. The entries on trade policy are here. It is administered by WIPO. The 1971 revision of the Berne Convention is one of the standards to be observed under the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights.
