Meaning of Application
(Lat. applicare). The act of making a request for something. A written request. The use or disposition made of a thing. i-ln Insurance. The preliminary, statement made by a party applying for an insurance on life, or against fire. Of Purchase Money. The use or disposition made of the funds received by a trustee on a sale of real estate held under the trust. Of Payment. See “Appropriation.”

That which is filed or submitted by an applicant, e.g., application for ball, or to an insurance company for issuance of an insurance policy. Also, a use, e.g., the “application” of a bandage to a wound, or a new “application” of a patent. See also application of payments; apply.
