Coreper in Global Commerce Policy
In this regard, coreper is: a European Union mechanism responsible for preparing meetings of the Council of the European Union (the Council of Ministers). The entries on trade policy are here. It consists of the ambassadors representing European Union member states in Brussels. Coreper I is made up of the Deputy Permanent Representatives and Coreper II of the Permanent Representatives. Coreper often deals with contentious issues, but it has no power to make decisions. The entries on trade policy are here. Although it became very early on one of the Community administrative mechanisms, it was only established formally by the Treaty of Maastricht.[1]
