English Legal System: Decree Absolute
In the context of the English law, A Dictionary of Law provides the following legal concept of Decree Absolute : A decree of divorce, nullity, or presumption of death that brings a marriage to a legal end, enabling the parties to remarry. It is usually issued six weeks after the *decree nisi (unless there are exceptional reasons why it should be given sooner). A list of decrees absolute is kept at the Divorce Registry and access to it is open to the public.
