Meaning of Palace court
In English law. A court which had jurisdiction of all personal actions arising between any parties within twelve miles of Whitehall, not including the city of London. It was erected in the time of Charles I., and was held by the steward of the household, the knight marshal and steward of the court, or his deputy. It had its sessions once a week, in the borough of Southwark. It was abolished by 12 & 13 Vict. c. 101, § 13.
