Accompany

What does Accompany mean in American Law?

The definition of Accompany in the law of the United States, as defined by the lexicographer Arthur Leff in his legal dictionary is:

To be closely associated with in space or time or both; to go along with. When a statute uses “accompanied,” e.g., “threatening words accompanied by menacing gestures,” it does not necessarily require simultaneity; very close temporal contiguity may be sufficient.
