The following is a definition of “Sue and Labour” Clause, produced by Tetley, in the context of admiralty law: A clause in a marine insurance policy which permits the assured to recover from the insurer any expenses incurred by the assured in order to minimize or avert a loss to the insured property, for which loss the insurer would have been liable under the policy.
