Legal Definition and Related Resources of Requisition
Meaning of Requisition
An authoritative demand ; especially for military purposes. The term is also frequently used in condemnation statutes as equivalent to condemnation or expropriation .
Requisition Alternative Definition
The act of demanding a thing to be done by virtue of some right. The demand made by the governor of one state on the governor of another for a fugitive from justice. The term “requisition” is sometimes used to denote the surrender of fugitives from one state to another; “extradition” being confined to surrender of fugitives by a foreign country. When, as is more common, “extradition” is used to embrace both interstate and international extradition, “requisition” is applied to the formal request of the governor for the surrender, and not to the other proceedings.
