Meaning of Venire facias de novo
(Lat) In practice. The name of a new writ of venire facias. This is awarded when, by reason of some irregularity or defect in the proceeding on the first venire, or the trial, the proper effect of the venire has been frustrated, or the verdict become void in law; as, for example, when the jury has been improperly chosen, or an uncertain, ambiguous, or defective verdict has been rendered.
