Sunset Clause
Sunset clause in Global Commerce Policy
In this regard, sunset clause is: a provision in an agreement under which a measure taken by a government expires automatically once a certain time has elapsed, or unless some specified action has been taken. The WTO agreements dealing with anti-dumping measures and countervailing duties contain sunset clauses under which relevant measures expire after five years unless a review finds that they should continue. See also manufacturing clause for a dispute arising because of a sunset clause in United States legislation.[1]
