Meaning of Naturalization

The act of admitting an alien to citizenship . The final judicial act whereby the applicant is accepted and admitted to the taking of the oath of allegiance . The immigration and nationality Act, 8 U.S. C. §1101(a)(23), defines the term as the conferring of the nationality of a state upon a person after birth, by any means what-soever. It is a privilege , to be given, qualified, or withheld, as Congress may determine , which an alien may claim as of right only on compliance with the terms which Congress imposes. United States v Macintosh, 283 U.S. 605, 51 S.Ct. 570, 75 L.Ed. 1302.
