The following is a definition of F.C. & S. Clause, produced by Tetley, in the context of admiralty law: A standard clause in a marine insurance policy by which the insurer excludes coverage of loss due to “capture” and “seizure” as well as “arrest, restraint or detriment, and the consequence thereof or of any attempt thereat (piracy excepted), and also from all consequences of hostilities or warlike operations, whether before or after declaration of war.”
