Enabling Clause in Global Commerce Policy

In this regard, a definition of this issue is as follows: the agreement on Differential and More Favourable Treatment, Reciprocity and Fuller Participation of Developing Countries, one of the outcomes of the Tokyo Round. The entries on trade policy are here. It allows developed WTO members to take action favouring developing countries without according the same treatment to other members. Main measures covered by it include the GSP, non-tariff measures covered by the GATT, regional and global trading arrangements between developing countries and special treatment for the least developed countries. The Enabling Clause was intended to promote greater participation of developing countries in the world trading system, but there is doubt that it achieved its purpose.
