East-West Trade

East-West trade in Global Commerce Policy

In this regard, east-west trade is: described trade between the OECD countries and the Comecon countries. Such trading posed special problems arising largely from the non-convertibility of the currencies of Comecon countries and the transfer of technology. The term is now obsolete in its original meaning, but some continue to use it for trade between Eastern and Western Europe. See also dual purpose exports.[1]
